Passing the ICF exam was a milestone, but mentoring others to do the same became an even bigger learning experience.
When I cleared my ICF ACC certification, I knew it wasn’t just about personal achievement. Many of my peers and batchmates were on the same journey, facing similar challenges, exam anxiety, uncertainty, self-doubt, structuring coaching conversations, and mastering the competencies. That’s when I decided to step in and support them in their path to success.
How I Mentored My Peers:
✔ Breaking Down the Process: I simplified the exam structure & framework, helping them build structured approaches.
✔ Mock Coaching & Feedback: Conducted practice sessions to refine their techniques and boost confidence.
✔ Mindset & Exam Readiness: Helped them shift from overanalyzing to trusting their coaching instincts. Most of important telling them not to indulge multiple channels of learning to avoid confusion.
✔ Accountability Partner: Encouraged consistency in practice and learning.
What I Learned in the Process:
- Teaching deepens mastery – Explaining concepts reinforced my understanding beyond just passing the exam.
- Coaching is a two-way street – Every session was a chance to refine my active listening and presence.
- Patience & Adaptability – Everyone has a unique learning curve, and mentoring required me to be flexible in my approach.
How This Experience Helped Me Grow Post-Certification:
✅ Enhanced my ability to mentor budding coaches -> A skill that strengthens leadership and mentoring.
✅ Built a stronger coaching network -> Learning and growing with like-minded professionals.
✅ Deepened self-awareness -> Helping others clarified my own coaching philosophy and growth areas.
The biggest realisation? Coaching doesn’t stop after certification, it’s an ongoing journey of learning, sharing, and evolving.
💡 Have you ever mentored someone and gained unexpected insights? I’d love to hear your experiences!
